The Travel Mug That Just Works (And Doesn’t Leak All Over Your Lap)
I don’t ask for much in life.
A quiet seat on the train. Tea that stays hot. A mug that doesn’t launch its contents into my lap the moment I hit a bump.
And yet, for years, that last one seemed oddly difficult. I’ve been through more travel mugs than I care to admit — twisty lids, flippy spouts, fancy valves that promise “technology” and end up dripping like a faulty tap.
But then — finally — I found a mug that didn’t make me sigh or swear.
Meet the YETI Rambler (A Mug With Manners)
It’s called the YETI Rambler 20 oz Travel Mug, and I’ll say this gently: it’s really rather good.
It keeps drinks hot — not just warm-ish, but properly hot. Ideal for those long, meandering video calls that seem to go nowhere. It doesn’t leak — the lid has a lovely magnetic slider that clicks shut with a quiet confidence, like someone who always knows where their wallet is.
And it’s sturdy — solid in the hand, like an old Thermos flask but without the retro rattle.
It also fits nicely in a car cup holder. I didn’t think I cared about that until I had one that didn’t, and I ended up juggling it like a clown on the M25.
A Mug That Minds Its Own Business
The thing I like most? It just works.
It doesn’t chirp at you. It doesn’t flash. It doesn’t ask you to download an app. It simply holds your drink, keeps it warm, and stays where you put it. Like a well-trained dog, but slightly more watertight.
If you’re in the market for a travel mug that behaves itself, I’ve popped a link here:

Life’s Too Short for Lukewarm Tea
There’s a small, quiet joy in taking a sip of tea and finding it still hot.
It’s not going to change your life. But on a grey Tuesday morning when everything else feels a bit soggy around the edges, it helps. And sometimes that’s enough.
Fancy More Ramblings?
If you enjoyed this little wander through the world of sensible mugs, I write more like this over at The Old Grey Thinker.
It’s part grumble, part wisdom, always served warm.
